The primary purpose of this position is to create, lead and deliver the vision and strategy of an integrated communications program, including external, internal and brand communications.  Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads public and media relations, and corporate communication activities that promote, enhance and protect the organization’s brand reputation
  • Shape and support our executive voices inside and outside the organization for announcements, public meetings and events. 
  • Support investor relations efforts, such as assisting with overall positioning, creating conference call scripts, developing investor presentations and planning for annual meetings.

  • Recognize internal and external communication and media opportunities and solutions.  Define and execute creative, appropriate and thoughtful strategies to support them.
  • Lead efforts in bringing our mission to life though direction of the Rite Aid Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Kids Cents programs.
  • Oversee crisis/ reputation control management and establish protocol for communication in these events.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises This position directly supervises leaders of public relations and media services teams, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Rite Aid policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.

Experience / Requirements
  • Ten (10) years' of experience in Journalism, Public Relations, or Corporate Communications required.

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Public Relations, Communications or Journalism required.
