Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the company-owned fleet of trailers and dollies. The incumbent is required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Coordinate the repair of trailers and dollies with warehouse personnel.
  • Schedule work for trailer shop personnel.
  • Assist with the administrative aspects of complying with state and federal laws, including completing forms and renewing certifications/licenses.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections on trailers and dollies to ensure all vehicles and equipment are operating correctly.
  • Repair trailers and equipment as indicated on driver inspection reports.
  • Document all work performed on fleet equipment.
  • Maintain the fuel island and wash rack.
  • Maintain all trailer shop records.
  • Ensure the trailer shop is clean and all safety procedures are followed.

Experience / Requirements

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, associates are regularly required to do the following activities:

  • Physical ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time
  • Physical ability to climb, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and move freely throughout the facility


Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus two (2) years' experience as a mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations

This position requires a valid driver’s license to travel for business purposes
