The essential duty of this position is to provide statistical and analytical support to the Category Management analytical department, Category Manager teams, and associated third parties, regarding retail business issues and objectives. This position will evaluate and provide insight from data using forecasting, analysis and statistical research techniques will be required to conduct frequent meetings with Category Managers, supplier representatives and many internal departments to gain understanding of current business issues. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.


The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  •  Design databases, data models, ETL processes, and data warehouse applications in order to collect and audit large data sets from internal and external sources to provide data for strategic sourcing, business users, and strategic partners
  •  Identify, plan and implement improvements in business systems and the data warehouse with the understanding of Category Management and Corporate objectives
  •  Develop, create and monitor data visualizations and performance dashboards for multiple levels of management
  •  Research data to aid in development of new support systems
  •  Identify opportunities to enhance business performance through improved analytics and reporting
  •  Analyze data to identify business trends and their effects on Category and Front End performance
  •  Create intuitive views of complex data sourced from various business systems
  •  Produce reporting and ad hoc analysis to quantify lift of promotions as well as risk and exposure of retail markdowns
  •  Serve as a liaison between Category Management and the internal IT community
  •  Plan, design and execute functional and technical system test scenarios against requirements to validate new features, business processes and user work flows to assess system performance
  •  Provide references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation, providing help desk support and training users regarding the usage of our internal data warehouse and other internal business systems
  • Serve as subject matter expert regarding the internal data warehouse



Experience / Requirements

  • Five (5) years' of experience in collection and administration of data required
  • Three (3) years' of experience in retail experience preferred


Pertinent knowledge, abilities, and/or training

  • Programming experience in one or more programming languages (i.e. VBA, XML, Java script, Python, etc.)

  • Experience with using R language and environment for statistical computing and visualization

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, One Note)

  • Ability to work weekends and extended days on an occasional basis


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, Business required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
