Job Description

The primary purpose of the PLC Technician to ensure that all equipment in the distribution center is operating properly and that the building is properly maintained. The PLC Tech is required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.


The PLC Technician is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned: -Review work orders to determine what equipment needs to be fixed; repair the equipment and maintain the proper documentation. -Perform preventative maintenance, equipment installation, and troubleshooting to ensure all equipment is operating properly with minimal down time.

-Provide systems support to the distribution center in the area of IPTI, WMS, Rapistan, Pick to Lite, Inet, etc. -Provide service and upkeep of the Sato printers, scanning equipment, and Sortation equipment which includes servers and software, various PLCs throughout the building.

-Read and write logic input and output boards and repair hardware issues with the above listed items and other electronic equipment not listed.

-Assist a variety of departments within the distribution center to: locate missing totes and recover tote history, IPTI and Rapistan data collection for the IS Department and Systems Department.

-Coordinate project/installs, upgrades, and various systems fixes with vendors and internal customers.

-Attend and help facilitate meetings with vendors, associates, and members of management for the purpose of discussing various issues, problems, fixes, and installs.

-Train line mechanics, supervisors and Rite Aid personnel in their areas of responsibility.

-Remain knowledgeable of the equipment and operating systems in the distribution center.

-Requisition materials, supplies, and parts from vendors for operating equipment.

-Perform process and logic control programming on utility equipment; maintain all related documentation and back up all programs.

-Follow all government regulatory guidelines, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation, etc.

Experience / Requirements

The following qualities are required of the Maintenance Mechanic:

-Minimum age of 18 years old due to the work environment.

-Ability to pass drug test.

-Committed to providing customer service that makes both internal and external customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.

-Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.

-Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.

-Ability to work weekends on an occasional basis.

-Ability to work extended days on a frequent basis.

-Ability to work day or evening hours and carry an on-call phone.

-Accuracy and attention to detail.

-Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects.

-Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes.

-Ability to work within strict time frames and resolute deadlines.

-Possess excellent knowledge of electronics and repair, as well as in depth knowledge of computer/servers.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus five (5) years' experience in industrial maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
