SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for the central fill facility and dispense prescribed medications. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:


• Fill prescriptions for pharmaceutical preparations; maintains accurate and detailed records of all prescription transactions.
• Maintain records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure accurate control over and accountability for all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; ensure legal operation of the pharmacy, including meeting all inspection and other requirements of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing pharmacy operations.
• Maintain appropriate medication and supply inventory levels to support all prescriptions being filled which includes but is not limited to: supervising the ordering, receipt of and rotation of an inventory of drug and supplies
• Determine and make recommendations for the purchase of new equipment to improve efficiency of pharmaceutical services
• Develops recommendation for new procedures to ensure the control and accountability of drugs and medications used with the department.
• Reviews usage rates and prescription trends.
• Document and report medication and automation errors to direct supervisor.
• Oversee the daily activities of the Pharmacy Department.
• Provide leadership and development for associates by communication career opportunities, providing regular performance feedback, and demonstrating Applause to associates.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position directly supervises Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Rite Aid policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.

Education

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Pharmacy required.
• Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) PharmD required.
• One (1) year of experience in Pharmacist required.
