The primary purpose of this position is to lead the design and development for our training and talent development strategies for all store, field, and corporate associates.  This position will also ensure a strategic approach to these areas of responsibilities working with internal and external partners.  Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.



  • Lead a professional team of associates that are responsible for all aspects of instructional design and development of training, talent development and talent assessment strategies that align and support the vision and strategy of the organization.
  • Direct and plan strategic alignment of training programs, outcomes and resources. Conduct needs assessment and analysis of operational gaps, talent development programs and consult with business partners to support new business strategies and key initiatives, system launches as well as change management efforts.
  • Lead Talent Reviews to assess organizational health, plan future development to produce our future talent pipeline.
  • Coach leaders, debrief results from leadership assessments and assist in the development and facilitation of various training programs.
  • Utilize internal and external resources and expertise to maximize results with regard to capabilities to support business needs and gaps. Responsible for the budget and establishing standards to objectively measure learning outcomes and the level of return on training investments, evaluate and ensure all training programs are up to date and effective.

Experience / Requirements

  • 7 years experience in human resource management or training and development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years experience in managing a training function


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related fields required.

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related fields preferred.
