Job Description SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to direct all mainframe and system technical activities in order to maintain operating environments, system software, network, online transactions processing, and database components. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

§  Ensure superior levels of system availability, performance, and support coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

§  Administer the formulation and management of programming and operating standards.

§  Oversee software releases to ensure effective implementation and maintenance and to enable utilization of the latest hardware technologies.

§  Regulate all capacity planning activities to accommodate future growth and ensure adequate systems resources are available at all times.

§  Oversee the planning and testing of business recovery techniques to ensure viability of the organization in case of a disaster.

§  Direct all preventative maintenance for vendor-supplied software to proactively solve potential system problems or provide timely resolution for problems that do occur.

§  Represent the department in all related technical and project meetings.

§  Assist the Vice President, Technology Infrastructure, in the preparation of and adherence to the Technology Infrastructure division budget.

§  Work with the Application Development, Production Control, Network Control Center, Data Security, Database Services, and Telecommunications departments to enhance the effectiveness of the entire Information Services (IS) organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises subordinate supervisory and/or non-supervisory personnel and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Rite Aid policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.

Experience / Requirements
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in enterprise systems
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Education
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer Science or Information Systems
