Job Description SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to support The Rite Aid Foundation's objectives including but not limited to: promotion and protection of The Foundation's image in the press, social platforms and among key stakeholder audiences, provide communication counsel in times of crisis through issues management; day-to-day management of company-wide campaign in support of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals; and communication support of The Foundation's philanthropic and community initiatives.  Frequent independent judgments are essential. The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  •  Manage day-to-day elements of company-wide campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals including analysis of statistical data, administration of 7 week in-store campaign, associate engagement, holiday hospital visits and key fundraisers including corporate golf outing and car wash, both yielding over $200k
  •  Develop, edit and approve various communication materials including press releases, formal remarks, talking points, associate communications, social content, fact sheets, etc. for multiple audiences and purposes in support of The Rite Aid Foundation’s key business objectives
  •  As a spokesperson for the Foundation, handle multiple press inquiries from trade, local and national print, broadcast, and online/social media outlets, including assessment of inquiry; development of recommended approach and working with business partners to develop appropriate statements and responding to the media and other stakeholders
  •  Raise awareness of key Foundation programs and initiatives by creating and implementing effective communication strategies, providing media outreach and pitching,  securing positive press coverage and by mitigating and or eliminating negative press
  •  Provides issues management and crisis communications support as needed, to all levels of the organization and aforementioned subsidiaries, through both traditional and social platforms
  •  Maintain and regularly update various sections of and including press center, management team and community pages; assist and coordinate efforts with social media team as necessary
  •  Develop and maintain relationships with Rite Aid store, field and corporate associates to achieve Foundation goals; media train same audience as appropriate
  •  Assist with the planning and execution of The Rite Aid Foundation press or other department led special events
  •  Support key Rite Aid Foundation programs, primarily KidCents, by providing support through preparation of communication materials, social media and event planning support
  •  Serve as day-to-day contact for trade media contacts and assisting with special project requests as needed
  •  Monitor, evaluate, compile and share news on company, competitors and industry for the Foundation Board and other executives
  • Oversight of contracts and relationships with all department vendors, including renewals, budget negotiations and annual evaluations of service providers
Experience / Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in related experience in communications; or equivalent combination of education and experience (internships included) required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Public Relations, Journalism/Mass Communications or Marketing Communications required
