Job Description SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to manage and oversee brand pharmaceutical product purchasing, retail pharmacy pricing, pharmacy call center, and brand vendor-supported medication compliance programs. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  •  Provide strategic guidance of the pharmacy call center operation including but not limited to contracting, contract compliance, business development, reporting, management of third party vendor relationships, and profitability
  •  Provide strategic guidance for retail pharmacy pricing, including overseeing management development and profitability 
  •  Manage the operational activities surrounding product logistics including purchasing, distribution and reverse distribution (recalls) of brand pharmaceuticals
  •  Evaluate and respond to the needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers to maximize income opportunities of pharmacy programs
  •  Execute the corporate flu vaccine purchasing and distribution
  •  Perform ROI and market analysis for all new and existing brand pharmaceutical products to be purchased and stocked in pharmacies as well as provide clear and concise communication to all RA business segments as it relates to these brand pharmaceutical products
  •  Responsible for the financial aspects of all brand drug pharmacy purchasing contracts are understood and acted upon by vendor income group (including accounting) and reviewed by Rite Aid Legal department if necessary
  •  Negotiate purchasing contracts by ensuring all pharmacy purchasing rebates and profits are billed and collected accurately and on a timely basis
  •  Direct the monitoring of compliance to the Rite Aid Corporation wholesaler supply agreement and manage brand pharmaceutical market share agreements and all corresponding performance income billing and reporting
  •  Responsible for the financial forecasts for senior management related to pharmacy gross profit by providing timely and accurate strategic information related to brand pharmacy and accurate strategic information related to brand pharmacy
  • Create and drive brand pharmaceutical DTC opportunities through multiple channels of Rite Aid Corporation business segments
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises the Assistant Manager Pharmacy Program Services and the Manager of Pharmacy Pricing; carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Rite Aid policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints

Experience / Requirements
  • Ten (10) years' of experience in Pharmacy operations, pharmacy marketing, purchasing required
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Pharmacy required
