The primary purpose of the Drug Information (DI) Pharmacy Technician is to assist the DI Pharmacists and DI Manager with serving customers and maintaining the department. *This is a non customer facing position that will not involve filling any medications* The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes. 


The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  •  Perform all functions and duties of a Drug Information Service Representative to ensure prompt service in the Drug Information Center, by screening internal and external customer calls for clinical issues
  •  Screen chats from website and mobile app, and transfer to a pharmacist for clinical issues
  •  Perform evaluation and basic problem resolution with the inventory management program
  •  Perform outbound “Needs Refill” (or similar) TIP calls under supervision of pharmacist
  •  Assist with non-clinical outreach calls (recalls, flu shot reminders)
  •  Assist with administrative tasks (call counts, chat counts, MTM billing reports)


Experience / Requirements

  • Pharmacy Technician certification where required by state law. required
  • Rite Aid Technician Training Program certification in all modules, job class/codes up to and including “Pharmacy Technician”. required
  • Successful achievement of Rite Aid’s Pharmacy Technician Certification required


  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)  required
  • 600 practical hours working in retail and/or pharmacy operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience. required
