SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to develop new and enhance existing relationships with third party payers to affect increased market share and profitable pharmacy sales in addition to monitoring fiscal results to optimize Managed Care revenue and gross margin. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  •  Negotiate and communicate rates and plan parameter changes with plan pharmacy executives to represent the company’s position with regard to such potential changes in Managed Care contracts to ensure that we are consistent with company initiatives
  •  Responsible for negotiating contracts that significantly impact Rite Aid’s overall revenue to ensure competitive reimbursement rates and increased growth profit margins
  •  Promote business development opportunities through restricted or limited networks, new industry business avenues, and other collaborative and partnership efforts with Managed Care payers, medical payers and other providers while being mindful of short and long term financial impact to remain consistent with company goals and objectives
  •  Develop new and existing relationships with third party payers to ensure network participation as well as monitor and analyze payer-specific financial data to optimize sales and gross margin
  • Manage issues with all payers appropriately with internal and external contacts to ensure successful payer relationships

 


Experience / Requirements

  • Five (5) years' of experience in Payer or third-party contracting, negotiating, reimbursement and analysis required
  • Five (5) years' of experience in Retail pharmacy operations preferred
  • Or equivalent education in lieu of experience


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Accounting or Marketing required
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Business preferred
